Has anyone used the salt.modules.dnsutil.serial before ?

Hi,

I am trying to use the dnsutils module, and more specifically the serial function, but I cannot make it works.....

Does salt  have to manage the bind zone file in order to be able to update it ?

Anyone ever tried this one ?

I haven’t used it but according to the code of the module, it just stores “serial” number of a zone identified by zone name in grains, the function will retrieve the current serial or update it (update grains)

No

It does not do anything relate to the zone file on disk.

I cannot find anywhere in states/ that uses the function.

I guess the function is there to let user use  it in a zone config file, so it will update the serial every time or base on some condition.
