Improve (free) module implementations

I am Ayush Kumar.I am a second year undergraduate student at IIT Kharagpur.I am interested in the project "Improve(free) module implementations". I know basic linear algebra and python. Can you tell what other things I need to know for this project . Can you provide some links and references?
