Hello, I'm a undergraduate sophomore hoping to contribute to Sage via GSoc. I am looking to contribute in the implementation of Schubert and Grothendieck polynomials project as I greatly enjoy combinatorics in general, however I am not very familiar with these particular mathematical concepts. I've taken courses on Discrete Maths, Linear Algebra and Real Analysis, however we have not covered the concepts related to this particular project.

Hence, I'd greatly appreciate if I could be referred some books or papers or any online resource which explains these concepts at a relatively low(er) level so I can gain an understand of the topic and draft a suitable proposal.

Thanks
Archit Sood

Dear Archit,
Thank you for your interest. There are many resources that are available online that can be found. One good place to start is on symmetricfunctions.com. To be successful at this project, you will need to be able to understand the associated combinatorics and (linear) algebras.

Best,
Travis
