Hi,
I am Soumya Gupta , a 2nd year B.Tech. student in the branch of Industrial Internet of Things from GGSIPU East campus. I have been programming for the last 4 years in Python. I  have basic knowledge of C and R as well. I studied Linear and Abstract Algebra in my 3rd semester so I have some knowledge of ring theory , fields , group theory and inner product spaces. I am willing to learn more and want to contribute to open-source.

I am really interested to work on the project "Implement matrix spaces over commutative semirings". I would be delighted if you accept me and guide me through the process.

I have not been able to find issues regarding my idea , maybe because it hasn't been worked upon yet. So, if you could share the issue with me or a starting issue upon which I could work upon would be really helpful.

Thanks & Regards,
Soumya Gupta

Dear Soumya,
You should get acquainted with our development model, which you can find out about on our github page: https://github.com/Sage. Additional information regarding the application process can be found on the ideas page.

For this project, you will need to expand the matrix implementations within Sage to handle the additional larger class of base objects. Issues do not reflect one-to-one with ideas for improvements within Sage, and you are encouraged to take the initiative to figure out how to design such a project by looking within the codebase.

Best,
Travis
