Hello!

Let me introduce myself. My name is Zilia Khusnutdinova and I am a second Year PhD student in the South Ural State university, Russia. My research area deeply connected with abstract algebra. My research topic is "Symmetric graphs of cyclic TI-subgroups and their automorphisms". Particularly I am investigating commutation graphs of cyclic TI-subgroups of order 4. I apply SAGE for my daily research. It provides easy way to check my hypothesis and investigate graph properties.

I think that participation in GSOC can help me to improve my skills in combanatorial algebra. My research is deeply connected with investigation of distant regular graphs so I would like to participate in Database of generators and of "sporadic" examples of distance-regular graphs project. Also I think that Improve support of representation theory project can be interesting for me.

I have good programming skills. I have experience with Python, C# and C++. Before applying PhD program I pursued degrees in Software engineering

On the ideas page you provided several references to read for each project. But I found nothing for Improve support of representation theory project. Could you give some advice, what should I read to learn more about this project?

Dear Zilya,
Any of the standard texts on representation theory are good references. In particular, those on the symmetric group or simple Lie algebras such as Sagan's The Symmetric Group, Fulton's Young Tableaux, or Representation Theory by Fulton and Harris. However, aspects of this project will not have much utility for graph theory as far as I know.

Best,
Travis
