GSoc 2026 Codebase setup adn further interest

Dear Travis,

My name is Yug, and I am a 3rd-year undergraduate student at NIT Jaipur. I have a strong interest in contributing to SageMath and potentially participating in GSoC 2026.

I have successfully set up the SageMath codebase and development environment locally (as shown in the setup screenshot I shared), and I am eager to start contributing to the project.

I would be grateful if you could suggest beginner-friendly issues or areas where new contributors can make meaningful contributions. Additionally, I would love to know how I can best engage with the community and ensure that my contributions align with SageMath’s development goals.

   Thank you for your interest in SageMath and GSoC 2026. Please note that we have not been accepted as a mentor org for GSoC 2026 currently, and so I can only give limited information regarding participation in GSoC 2026 at present.

That said, we wholly welcome any contributions that you would like to make at any time. You can take a look at our issues tracker on our github page, which can filter by specific topics via the tags.
