rails routing error

clicking this link in the view
<%=
link_to 'Profile', new_user_profile_path(@user) %>
causes
NoMethodError in Profiles#new undefined method `profiles_path'
here's the route from rake routes
new_user_profile GET    /users/:user_id/profile/new(.:format)                               profiles#new

i'm using devise so i think current_user is the same as @user but i tried that too and it causes the same error

 I got it solved i had declared profiles as a nested resource under users, but i still needed to declare it again, standalone
resources :profiles ~ thanks
