Trying to read a 2020 Ford TPMS with no luck.  Sensor operates at 315 Mhz.

rtl_433 -f 315 -v

Wondering if the ford support is for the older ford sensors?

Hello John,
I think your command needs an M in it. I tested it just now and -f 315 tried to tune to 315 Hz.
Try this one and see if it works:

rtl_433 -f 315M -v

Good catch by John on M.

I haven't run this in a while, but last I knew one could receive the
bits but the pressure/temp wasn't decoded, at least from ~10 year old
Ford sensors.

I was having a problem with Ford and a few other sensors decoding and at 315mhz using my SDR. Though, I had no problem when I used my  Raspberry Pi Zero W. I was able to pick up 315mhz on the Pi Zero without even attaching a wire to Pi. Everything else worked on the SDR like 433.9200 mhz, 915M but 315mhz was an issue. Its weird I know haha.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this but, I found that Kismet within the GUI, if you have RTL433 install on the same machine, Kismet recognizes RTL433 as its own datasource and will populate LOTS of awesome info that I couldnt decode via RTL433. Like my whole neighborhoods Electric and water meters and the detail provided through Kismet of all of the devices identified is too cool.

So I had rtl_433 running sitting on my desk and it started picking up schrader TPMS sensors.  I was convinced it was my friends jeep parked outside....after doing a test driving in it, it indded was his jeep.  It picks them up and reports back the propper PSI and temp.

I dont actually need rtl_433 to read the 20202 ford......My application is for a trailer, so i can use any TPMS sensors i want, so, after seeing the schrader ones on the jeep worked,  i went and ordered the schrader ones.  $25 each, but i know they will work in rtl_433, so i went with those.  I also had to order the programing tool, which i found a deal on at $170.  These sensors are universal so they can be set to 433, 315, and some other frequency i havent heard of...thats why a special programmer is required.

I will post a thread on success once i get them working so everyone whos setting up a TPMS system using rtl_433 knows defiantly which ones to order.

While waiting for the schrader sensors to arrive, actually got another sensor in the mail today that i had ordered Ford:

4L2T-1A150-BB or 4L2Z-1A150-BB (Same ones)

Detects and works perfectly at 433mhz, and displays in PSI.  No programer, no activating - just put it in a pressure tank and it worked.  Interesting.

Thank you so much!  So silly i was missing that.  I can now read the ford sensors good.  However, for any project i highly recomend against using them.  The schrader EZ sensors are so much easier to work with.  They also use a rubber head, which makes installing them less prone to leaks.  They can be activated using a cheap "tech 200" programing tool.  You can activate them in 315 OR 433 mhz, and have them emulate so many vehicles.

Hi John, for the sensors, I guess you are referring to this model:  https://www.amazon.com/Schrader-33500-Sensor-Programmable-sensor/dp/B00TPVZNUW

For the programming tool "Tech 200" would you mind providing a link ?

Thanks,

Its the Baratec Tech 200, but its getting hard to get as its not made anymore.

Here is their new version, the tech200 pro:  https://www.bartecusa.com/tech200pro-tpms-tool
