Very cool tech.  It's bipedal, it can also be quadrupedal?  but a few things stand out in the video.

Mostly thanks to this guy

  • They never actually show the mech in operation with a pilot  The shot you DO see?  It's a mannequin based on how it bounces around passively.  This is VERY telling.  That's crazy.
  •  You never see the feet in the shot where the pilot climbs into the safety cage.  You don't see any redistribution or adjustment from having a 160lb man hanging off the side, and you don't see the feet.  That's a static model for that shot.
  • I have no idea how the pilot is supposed to ride in the roll-cage in a supine safety seat in quadruped mode.  still neat though.

What do you notice?

This is impressive, but it is clear they are not willing to risk a human rider when the machine is powered up.  Maybe after another 2,000 hours of testing?


The price is completely consistent with my observation that the price of walking robots is proportional to the cube of their height.  Or equivalently, they are priced by volume, not height.
