Hi All

A Happy New Year to you all!

I was playing my Christmas singles for an hour so the other day when the machine suddenly just stopped as if there had been a power cut which there hadn’t. This was mid play so when I opened the box the arm/stylus was still sat on the disc.

I referred to the manual which suggested turning the power off and then back on and moving the scan switch to the Scan position which I did but nothing happened, still dead.

I checked the fuses and found that the “Trage” fuse had blown so I sourced a new one and replaced it but when I switched it on the fuse just blew again so it wasn’t just a tired old fuse (see photo below for more detail).

Referring to the manual again it suggests that ‘If the mechanism does not start in scan position” then the problem is:

A Credit Unit Board
B Logic Board
C Regulator Board (power supply)
D Play Control Relay
E Magazine Motor
F Mechanism Power Board

Trouble is, as far as I can see, it is impossible to do further diagnostics without power i.e. how can I check these components if the fuse continually blows?

I am very keen to get it fixed and am desperate for some help/advice please. I have attached a photo of the “Trage” fuse and it’s location below.

Has anyone got any ideas please

All the best
Ken

If I were betting odds my money would probably be on a faulty ballast or short in the lighting system (since the other circuits have various fuses and breakers that would likely blow before these particular fuses would). But try removing all the plugs and doing the test as I described in my private email.

If it turns out the jukebox works properly with the lighting plug removed from the power supply you can remove the ballast assembly (lower left side near the floor) and have it checked out by a licensed electrician. Since you are in the UK I assume these would be 220/240 volt, 50Hz, 20 watt ballasts. (So you don't want to order the 120 volt replacement ballasts common in the US).

If LED #1 is off:
1. Try resetting the red circuit breaker button.
2. Check internal fuses on the rectifier board located under the breaker buttons.

It is also common to have to replace the two large capacitors on the rectifier board if the magazine and gripper motors are not working.
For C101 you can use a 2200uf 35V axial lead cap.  For C102 you can use a 1000uf 50V axial lead cap. Both are common capacitors and easy to find on ebay.
Make certain to keep the + and - leads in the correct position when replacing.

hope this helps some, Ed
