Is there a new version coming out any time soon? Is there any active development going on? ETA?

Hopefully a new version comes out sometime soon.  :)    I'm particularly looking forward to the read-only role that is planned for v3.

I'm hoping to release a new version this year, but I am currently working on another open source project which is taking most of my time up (Syringe if you're interested).

There might seem like not much going on right now, but most of this is intentional until Microsoft release ASP.NET Core and MVC 6 in June/July time. I'm keen to have Roadkill working in Docker container land, preferably not using IIS as it causes as lot of headaches.

The readonly roles will need a overhaul of the security design, and I'd like to be able to offer easy updates for Roadkill via Chocolately for this. A lot of the groundwork is being done in the Syringe project so hopefully I can put that over into Roadkill in the 2nd half of the year.

So in short, Roadkill 2016 Winter Edition will be 3!

What do you mean by IIS causes a lot of headaches? I host web sites on IIS and they work fine. I don't know what Docker provides extra or even understand how and why to use a wiki web site in Docker.

ASP.NET MVC is heavy tied to System.Web which makes testing a real pita, particularly acceptance testing. If you're manually editing sites with the UI it's fine but the changes coming in the next version will make asp.net far easier to add features too without crazy amounts of setups.

If you've not tried Docker out it's worth a look.
