Looks great except with a 34" seat height, only basketball players need apply.  I'll stick with the T120.

I’m curious how the prices will stack up vs the 22 KTM Super Adventures. That might sway more prospective buyers than the seat height. Of course, there are those pesky rumors about BMW going full water cooling on their next GS.

Hey Shmitty,
Full details with MSRP for five different models are shown on the Triumph website as of yesterday. Prices range from $19,100 up to $24,200.  KTM Super Adventure MSRPs are showing up as "TBA".

Thanks Dave, I was waiting on the KTM announcement as you noted. They seem to be very aggressive pricing in the UK from what I have seen.  But they don’t have either shaft drive or painted bodywork. They also seem to have issues with the electronics that the European press has consistently pointed out. My KTM has been mechanically sound but every once in awhile it does something unexpected with the electronic bits.

Hi Steve:  Interesting you mention electronic gremlins in the KTM.  I was out 10 days ago headed to Deckers and one guy was on a 2020 KTM 1200 and for no apparent reason it went into "limp mode" and if he tried to shift out of 1st gear, it stalled.  We turned around and limped home.  He works on his own bike, took a bunch of stuff apart, found nothing wrong but when he put it all back together, it was fine.  Gremlins?

My BMW F800 used to do the same thing.  Totally unpredictable when it would happen. Had everything checked (multiple times) and Foothills could never find anything wrong. I searched the F800 message boards and found many others with similar issues.  It was one of the reasons I ended up selling that bike several years ago.  What good is an “adventure” bike that is unreliable near home let alone in the middle of Moab?!

Hi Norm,

The one bugbear that KTM has continually struggled with is the electronics. I obviously did quite a bit of research before I bought my 790, and I kept seeing the electronics coming up in discussions across the board, from professional reviewers to forums. The mechanical stuff is brilliant and apparently stout. I didn’t want the bigger size (nor the heat!) of the 1290 Adventures.

When I mentioned that I have had the occasional electronic issue, it’s mostly been that the bike didn’t recognize the key. If I cycle the ignition it resets itself and I don’t have any problems. The only other issue is that the quick shifter isn’t that good for upshifts under power. I took it in for warranty but my local dealer couldn’t get it to work any better. That’s really the only issues I’ve had with the bike.
