2023 Mecum Motorcycle Auction

It is still -14° in Hudson,so to pass the time,l just browsed the motorcycle consignments for the up-coming Las Vegas auction on Jan.24-28.This is also the time that l "needle" one Mr.Dan Pilcher to raise his bidders paddle!This year,l will no, seeing as Dan is very busy!

Last two years were "slim pickings!"Now that covid appears to be in the rear view mirror,depending on who you believe,the selection is out of this world,so peek at your leasure.All 50 pages....  

I am assuming one of you will ask for my personal "dream bids",so here is my list:

1976 Yamaha XT 500

1976 Yamaha TT500

Any Yamaha RD400 or Honda 400/4

1977 Triumph Silver Jubilee in european spec. ( low bar and large tank)

For Dan,1998 Triumph Sprint Excective

What yours?There are other bikes l had interest in,but my shed is too small!

In closing,Dan,l know your wife Madie has a very long road ahead to recovery and l hope she is on the right track.To all you other RATS,l lost count on 1970-71 Honda CB750's,so l am sure we can make Jim Baker buy another one!Stay warm everybody......

It's a balmy 43 right now in north GA, altho it's supposed to drop to 7 overnight tonight.  Dunno why you guys stayed in the freezer. 

Steve, is the collection online somewhere, or only analog?  Not planning on adding to the pile this year, but wanted to take a look ...

Dam you Robert,that is a nice one.The Mecum site has at least 6,including 2 Daytona Specials ( never sold in Europe),which l assume the prices on those will go through the roof!!!

I told myself that those few miles in forty-six years didn't do that motor any favors. It seems likely that the crankshaft seal between the cylinders will need to be replaced, meaning that the crankshaft will have to be removed and pressed apart.

Growing up in England,the RD400 was the bike of choice for road racing.The Kawasaki triples were trounced once the RD's came onto the scene.l believe,if my memory is working,that the cases were taken apart after every third race weekend.There were still a few die-hards that rode from home to the track,then raced,then back home afterwards......

I love Dalonagha. Do yourself a favor and go to Frogtown Winery, order a bottle of 404 and their cheese tray around 4:00 pm sit on the covered balcony and enjoy the pond and the most relaxation anywhere!
