I know it came up during the last RAT meeting that the 1st Saturday of the month is also when the BMAC meets and since we have members in both groups, the question was asked whether we could move the RMRAT meeting to the 2nd Saturday vs. the first.

With apologies to the BMAC members, I don't think I'll be able to move the RAT meeting to the Second Saturday of the month. Here's why: I'm not available the Second Saturday of February, April, July, August, September October or November. Third Saturdays I'm not available May, June, July (Triumph in the Rockies is that weekend), or September. Fourth Saturday is a possibility although this puts us having a meeting on the Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend. Group thoughts on that? I am set on moving the meetings to Saturdays, I think it will give us more opportunities to have presentations or demonstrations at the club meeting.

For those that are in the Indian club (Dave Mulay?) the 4th Saturday also puts us in conflict with them in February, March, May, June, August, September, and November.

Thoughts?

Don’t forget about the fifth Saturdays in January, April, July, October, and December.

Martin; It sounds like the fourth Saturday would be the best choice, as any members having Memorial Day Weekend plans would not attend the meeting anyway. Perhaps just having a planned ride that day would suffice.  EWB

I understand, Martin.  You have to do what's best for the majority of the members.  It's a bummer, because I was hoping to go to more RAT events this year, but I get it.  Maybe we'll still do some informal Sunday rides?

I had an unexpected window of opportunity open up on Dec 26-27, so I shot over to Loveland and picked it up. The roads were fairly decent but it was still a long 2 days. I didn’t have time to meet up with anyone except my daughter Evelyn who lives up there, I certainly would have if I could have.

It’s now sitting in the shop waiting for nicer weather and less ice on the driveway. Thanks again for all your help Steve, I couldn’t have done it without your help and insight.

Mrs. Smith is recovering from a successful knee replacement surgery this past Tuesday. She’s doing very good at the moment and she’s working hard on her PT. She wants to get back on her Tiger and see if I can keep up with her on the GS. Not too sure I can!

I got it fixed at Tfog.  They replaced the shift shaft and trigger mechanism.  Clearly a design or spec error.  The steel was only machined steel, not case hardened.  The replacement parts from Triumph were beefier and hardened steel.

Steve, you caught everything that there was. I didn’t realize at first but the original owner bought it fully loaded with the exception of spoked wheels, which is exactly what I wanted. It’s too much motorcycle for rough riding, that’s where my KTM shines. It suits my touring style perfectly.

I don’t have any desire to use that silly case that was fitted to the rear, and as soon as I get the replacement screws that plastic plate is going with it!

I am a big fan of tail cases. Great when using the bike for commuting, keeping a large variety of gloves, tools, gazetteers, cases of beer, etc .. basically the essentials.

My Trophy top case hold two cases of beer.

That said, some are pretty ugly.

Also they change the airflow. Without I get less airflow throw the back flap on my Stich when it is hot.

Also great for passenger back rests.

Jom, I agree that they are useful, especially when traveling. The top case that came with the bike was not much more than a black plastic rectangular box about 6” deep and looked completely out of place on it. It’s just a blemish on an otherwise factory stock bike. I may someday get the right one to match the panniers but not yet.

Martin

Gave the above some thought overnight and came up with the following:

Any possibility of using "zoom",if the start time stays at 9 am ( BMAC starts at 10)?

Do plan on attending about every 2-3 months. This partially depends on a special presentation and especially weather at the time

My situation is l already paid up with BMAC for 2022 .They generously waived dues for 2021 because of covid.Sure you would agree with me that they need my full support when you factor in circumstances that nobody has control over.If anyone out there has other ideas, let me know
