So after thinking about it some more I've decided to trim back the First Sunday ride a little bit in the interest of getting more participation.  I still want to do Independence Pass since I never rode it last year but I think what I'll do is ride I-70 to Copper Mountain and then Leadville, then Independence Pass all the way to Aspen, then fuel up, turn around and ride back East over the pass, turning South to Buena Vista and then US 24 to Hartsel, CO 9 down to Guffey and then the usual route back to Woodland Park.  Google says 309 miles from Morrison to WP.

Jim, I'd b willing to push the meet time to 8:00 and Kickstands Up at 8:30 if that would  work better for you.  You could jump off at WP on the way home and head straight back to the Springs.

I'd do that.  Since I live in Summit County, I'd meet the group at the Copper exit.  There is a gas station on the left at the light at the Copper Mt Resort entrance.  If you text me when you leave, I'll figure the time to meet and I'll be at the gas station conservatively.  If your route takes you over Loveland Pass, I could meet you there too off I-70 before heading over the pass to Keystone.

My number is 303 478-8203.

Sounds great, Norm.  I'll update you when we get closer to the date.  Didn't you get a new(er) R1200R too?

I did.  I got a 2017 with 12500 miles.  Finally got it licensed this week.  This COVID stuff makes life difficult to say the least.  DMV requires an appointm but the website only lists the next 3 business days and rotates at midnight.  I got on live at 12:06 AM and there were only 3 spots left for that new third day.  Gotta luv government.

Thanks, Martin!  I will say tentative yes; it depends on whether my wife decides to hike that day; if she stays closer to home then I'll be able to go play but if she's gonna be out of the house at 4AM and gone all day I'll need to watch the dogs ... after Lake City and Montrose, it's her turn, and she's getting thoroughly rained out this weekend.

Martin:  Are you on I-70 all the way to the Copper exit?  If so I'll meet you.  An 8:30 start from Morrion should put you at Copper at 10:00, I'll be there 15 minutes before that on the right side of the road after the light to Copper Resort.  No need to stop unless you want to, I'll just fall in.

Correct.  The gas station just South of Banidmere Speedway.  I think it's a Phillips 66 now.

Norm, I'm going to want to top off with gas so why don't you meet us at the Conoco which is just off the exit?  The one that's just off the Frontage road?

That works although gas is cheaper in Leadville but for a gallon or 2 it's no big deal so that makes sense..
