Hello Mahmoud and all Ring family,

I have some exciting news to share tonight about Softanza and Ring

PS: The photo is real — taken today in Niamey (Niger). I simply retouched it and added the Softanza ❤️ logo over my heart.

Stay tuned!

Hello again,

Today, October 12th, 2025, in Niamey (Niger), I signed the very first strategic educational partnership for the Softanza Project.

image.png

ESPA-MT, a leading private school in management and technology with over 1,500 students, two campuses, and an innovation center, has officially adopted Softanza Library and the Ring language as their programmatic framework for teaching algorithmics, computational thinking, and artificial (programmatic) intelligence across all 14 professional disciplines.

The school is providing both annual financial support for the Softanza open-source project and a symbolic monthly collaboration fee to help their teams master Softanza and Ring, develop a core community of programmers, and design interactive courses based on Softanza modules and Ring’s unique capabilities.

A key highlight of this partnership is that all developed courses will be released as open-source educational material, benefiting learners and institutions worldwide.

Together, we will also build a shared offering to promote this initiative—first within ESPA-MT, then across Africa and beyond.

This milestone marks the beginning of institutional/enterprise adoption of Softanza and Ring and their mission to leverage their unique strength in accessible, innovative programming education.

All the best,
Mansour

Thank you very much Mahmoud!

In my speech today, I dedicated this achievement to you, because Ring has been the true enabler of all the innovative thinking behind Softanza—something I had attempted many times with other languages, but could never bring to completion until I met with Ring.

Sincerely,
Mansour

Hello Mansour,

Huge congratulations on signing this strategic partnership.

The commitment from ESPA-MT to use Softanza and Ring across 14 disciplines is a significant achievement.

The decision to keep the developed course materials open-source is particularly commendable and will surely benefit the wider ecosystem.

Best regards,
Youssef

Hello Youssaf,

Huge congratulations on signing this strategic partnership.

Thanks a lot!

The commitment from ESPA-MT to use Softanza and Ring across 14 disciplines is a significant achievement.

Indeed. We spent 3 weeks experimenting with the various Softanza modules and their ability to suit practical educational experiences.

Hence ESPA-MT pedagogic officers asked me to design algorithmic cases in the domain of data analytics (one of the strong points of Softanza) :

And to show them how local african languages can be easily used in programming (softanza Natural modul which will be rewritten when Mahloud finalizes the new version of Ring NaturalLib) :

among many other cases that led them to believe Sofanaza and Ring are their definitive ally (they have been evaluating other languages like Python and Julia).

Then, we took two weeks reflecting on how Softanza modules (and it's +200 classes) can fit to the needs of each of their 14 disciplines :

The decision to keep the developed course materials open-source is particularly commendable

That’s true! Their acceptance of this criterion reflects the culture of sharing we cultivate within the Ring ecosystem and expect from all our partners. I even turned down another offer from a school twice the size of ESPA-MT — with a higher financial proposal — because they insisted on keeping the produced material closed-source.

Mr. Oussman Salé, the school director, is a former Orange Telecom programmer with solid experience in open-source technologies. He understands their value deeply, which greatly facilitated our alignment.

All the best,

Mansour

Hello Mansour,

Thank you for sharing these behind-the-scenes details.

I am particularly impressed that you turned down a larger financial offer to ensure the project remained open-source. It is inspiring to see the project's core philosophy prioritized over financial gain.

It is also fascinating to hear that Softanza/Ring was selected over Python and Julia after such a rigorous 3-week evaluation. It validates the unique strengths of the language, especially regarding the Natural module and local African languages.

Best regards,
Youssef

Hello Mansour,

I am pleasantly impressed and very proud... even moved, by the news you have shared with us. It is a beautiful historic event resulting from your efforts, Mahmoud's, and everyone expanding the Ring ecosystem: ultimately, a way for the language to gain international recognition on its own merits.

Congratulations!

Warm regards,
Antonio F.S.
