TypeError when attempting to save new Plastic repo

Hello all,

I recently have been trying to set up a new Review Board installation with a virtual container in Ubuntu 24.04 and RB 7.0.2. for our Plastic repositories. I had some issues but finally got the site to show up at our server's IP address. When trying to save a repo to test things, I get an error at the top: ['cannot use a bytes pattern on a string-like object']. I checked the logs hoping to find more information but saw only the same error message: "TypeError: cannot use a bytes pattern on a string-like object". I had this same error before trying to install on Ubuntu 20.04 which we upgraded from to try to avoid this problem, thinking it may have been related to mismatched versions. Unfortunately I was unable to figure out what is causing this issue so not sure what to do from here.

Still having this issue, tried again with Ubuntu 22.04 and Python 3.10. If anyone has any idea of what could cause it, would really appreciate any insight

I discovered that it will allow me to save the repo if I uncheck "Show this repository". When in the list of repos, it shows Type/Account as "plastic (missing support)". As far as I could tell from all of the documentation, there wasn't anything specific to install other than the plastic client tools cm. How can I add Plastic SCM support to my Ubuntu venv Review Board installation?

Hi,

The Plastic support in Review Board was originally contributed by the Plastic team, years back, and wasn’t kept up-to-date with changes in Plastic.

We’ve been working on bringing full support back, but have been hitting problems with bugs in their authentication process, where credentials will on occasion not refresh and require the repository to be re-configured.

I’m personally working on this support and want to bring it back to Review Board. We’ve been waiting to see if the authentication issues will be fixed, or if we can work around it, but I don’t have an ETA on this right now, unfortunately. When it’s ready, we’ll be making an announcement about the new support.
