Hi all,
Is there somewhere a description (scenario) of the configuring and usage SGW with jSS7?
"User Guide to Restcomm jSS7" contains insufficient information.
I configured SGW and remote jSS7 but msg from jSS7 reaches only to SGW. Perhaps it doesn't transfer from IP to TDM-net (how understand that the request was transferred?)

Best regards

By the way, haven't been here for a while, but I've managed to solve the problem: I've configured SGW and jSS7 so that MAP-messages are transported to the TDM-net via SGW.
If someone is intrested, I can post here the working configuration

Hi Serjeshs,

Great to hear you managed to figure this out.
In addition to Ibrahima's comment, if you feel your solution should eventually find its way into the JSS7 User Guide (from where you indicated some information is missing) I would be more than happy to help out with that   ; )

Cheers,
Yorgos

Hi,

The following article helped me solve the problem:
http://copyndone.com/2015/07/02/how-to-build-signaling-gateway-using-mobicent-jss7-stack-and-sangoma-t1e1j1-card/
it prompted the idea that on the SGW side I should try to configure the AS mode (not SGW mode - despite the fact it looks more logical it didn't worked for me).
In the article, the author has configured the AS mode on the gateway, but did not specify the M3UA configuration on the server with jSS7.I tried the AS mode on both sides, but it definetely can't work this way. Then I tried the SGW mode on the server with jSS7 and with the proper routing everything started working.
At the SGW:
m3ua as create AS1 AS mode DE rc 100 traffic-mode override

at the server:
m3ua as create AS1 SGW mode DE rc 100 traffic-mode override

Routing
at the SGW:
m3ua route add AS1 OUR_PC NEIGHBOR_PC -1

at the server:
m3ua route add AS1 NEIGHBOR_PC -1 -1

This was regarding the M3UA Protocol.

Regarding the SCTP: at the gateway, you must configure the "CLIENT" mode and the "SERVER" mode at the server with jSS7, otherwise it will not work.

At the SGW:
sctp association create Assoc1 CLIENT IP_JSS7SERVER PORT_JSS7SERVER IP_GATEWAY PORT_GATEWAY

at the server:
sctp association create Assoc1 SERVER SCTPSERV1 IP_GATEWAY PORT_GATEWAY

Best regards

@Serjeshs,

what I meant was that maybe it would make sense to contribute these instructions to the JSS7 User Guide

The sources for those docs are available on Github (e.g. see here), so you could open a Pull Request, perhaps with an extra section you could add.
I'll be happy to further guide you on the details if you like.

I didn't understand at first what you had meant. It is an interesting idea to contribute my instructions through Github

Hi Yorgos,
need to clarify some details before making a Pull Request.
I was looking for a section where I could insert my instructions in the JSS7 User Guide. There are 2 paragraphs in Guide:
8.1.2 and 8.1.3. If I understand right, these sections discribe 2 different setting modes of Signaling Gateway.
I think my decision(regarding M3UA) more suitable for paragraph 8.1.3. If you agree with me than I put it there.

Is there any special requirements for opening Pull Request?

What would be better: to write you here in that google group? by email or something else?

Hi Serjeshs,

Please feel free to reach me on Gitter for IM.

Thanks for taking the time to look into the guide and the appropriate sections. I'll ask the maintainers of the project and let you know.  ; )

Cheers,
Yorgos
