API Registration mega-thread

Hi all,

Many people have been posting issues not being able to download data due to their API registration not being accepted, even though they can log in to the developer portal.

Our system has a 1-2 day delay from your approval, so please be patient. You should receive an email once we have confirmed your registration, after which you can log out and log in again to refresh.

Please leave any questions on this thread, please include your username (Twitter handle) so we can debug

I did not receive any email regarding whether I am approved or rejected.

Hello everyone!

My application for the Twitter Developer account has been rejected, though I explicitly stated that the only reason of obtaining the account is participation in this challenge. So, what's now? Am I excluded from participation due to some obscure and never-to-be-disclosed logic of some (likely) bot? Don't we need a smidgin of algorithmic transparency and accountability here, eh?

Hi Alykhan,

Same issue here. I applied for the Twitter Developer Account yesterday, carefully organized my words, stated explicitly that I would only use it to participate in the challenge, however it was rejected in about 12 hours. I was wondering if there is a way to get access to the challenge dataset without using Twitter API, but still keeps the dataset completely confidential? Or is it possible that an indenpendent dataset be released for this competition? 

Or what can I do in this situation? My Twitter handle @zhangf1994

Hi everyone do they accept people like me who want to just train and  Productionalize the solution's , I'm referring to this solution , I want to make a end to end recommender systems using the solution , the project is just for my learning purposes only and not intended to make use anywhere else , I wasn't on twitter so I created a new account @recsysjs would that minimize my chances of getting access due to that also I don't currently have an academic mail would that also for that reasons , I haven't applied yet so can anybody predict my chances for getting in .
