About SOCCER 'n' RC Soaring: In my own way I was in the FREY over the ISSUE of Seattle Area Soaring Society VS Soccer and the endangering of their 30 year occupation of 60 Acres--it has been years ago now and I no longer have any current contact with anybody. I did just GOOGLE and found excellent information available on their site. Great work SASS! Pleased to see SASS still flies at 60 Acres AND the Carnation Farm which had just been worked out when I dropped out of the picture! Any SASS watching RCSE, the birthing'Home of SAL and DHL w/Dick Barker :-) !!  SKY PILOT--RCHLG-DHL AFICIONADO, as it was, since w/rt'Hip replacement and back surgery 'n' 80 now :-) !!

OK, Gordy is missed.  Now who will step up and fill the gap?  This forum
covered a broad spectrum of topics in R/C soaring (not just competition)
long before RC Groups became available. Here's a general topic that
might stir up some interest./  What steps, in your opinion, would give
soaring a shot in the arm? / Here are a couple of potential examples:

* The new F3RES class looks promising.  Would the introduction of an
ARF sailplane built to F3ES specs with reasonable performance and
price boost participation in this class?
* Sites capable of handling winch or histart launches are becoming
harder and harder to find.  Should the AMA use their clout and
contact one or more of the major youth soccer organizations about
sharing the many soccer sites in the USA?
* There are probably a few more similar broad topics worth
consideration and discussion.  Please use this forum to air them out.

Respectfully submitted for your perusal and comments,

Or, how do we get those with disposable income, like the 40-50 yr old empty
nesters looking for something to do besides play golf? I think there's
where we target our audience, not just kids who may or probably not have
the income or cash to put into this hobby. No matter what people say it's a
hobby and it isn't inexpensive. I'm glad to see the group showing signs of
life!

Here in Daytona, Soccer fields present a problem: lights! Those tall posts with lights tend to get in the way. Except for the summer the soccer is not in full swing, it becomes hard to use the few available fields that are available since they are either in maintenance and or used by other sports/ recreation. Not to mention that the good fields where anything flying would be possible, most lay within the realms of an airport of class C or D, which are controlled limiting altitude to 400-500 feet in the 4 nm proximity and 1200 feet beyond the 5-10 nautical mile outer area of the airspace. Anything further away that should be ok. Anyway, there are a couple of fields good for informal dlg flying and the ocasional flight of a 3.8 just to test glide, settings and a quick flight.
Maybe im looking at it the wrong way ...?

Thanks Paul , I had a chance to fly with the Pugh’s out at Carnation a few years ago. A really wonderful Soaring site. Good people, a fun time, with good memories. I hope you are healing well.
Unfortunately time takes it’s toll on our minds and body’s.
