I found this comparison of CP/M compilers and it looks like the various Modula compilers perform surprisingly well, even compared to C.  But I don't see any of them in the RomWBW images.

I'm going to try to find one and play around with it.

Does anyone have any experience with any of them, or Modula in general?  There's a Borland Turbo Modula that has the same IDE as their Turbo Pascal.  That might be a good choice to include as an image for RomWBW.

Thoughts?

Many of these have existing rights holders who have not given permission for their code to be redistributed. Someone stuffed a copy on GitHub doesn't magically make it free.

Borland's successor's made some bits available but Modula was not one of them. In fact a copy of Borland Modula 2 for CP/M is incredibly rare as the product was released then almost immediately pulled without explanation and never saw the light of day again.

Ah, good point.  That doesn't really come to mind often, as many CP/M programs are just assumed to be abandonware.  But gotta play by the rules here I suppose.

Turbo Modula 2 has a bug in the ANSI driver and a fix should be used to make the IDE usable. The same bug occurs in the library.

Have a look in my app archive on GitHub riwide. FTL Modula 2 is the best. I wrote a hack of their mini nulu to give me a nulu (I called it Lima for library manager) to work on Cromemco CDOs. The example is there as well as the compiler.
