Hi,
Just released PicoTerm V1.3 for RC2014 PicoTerm board.
What's news:
  • Extending the font with NuPET ASCII charset
  • Help screen shift+ctrl+H
  • NupetScii charset screen shift+ctrl+N
  • Configuration screen still at shift+ctrl+M
  • Revamped configuration screen with NuPetScii
Know Issues:
  1. USB keyboard is not detected if already connected at power-up. Disconnect and reconnect it!
  2. VGA rendering sometime hangs when connecting a keyboard (rare). Press reset button (on PicoTerm) and try again.
  3. Saving the configuration into Flash fails from time to time (rare). Just press reset button (on PicoTerm) and try again.
More information in the Release notes

Hello all!

The NupetScii character set does some funny things in Turbo Pascal and WordStar (at least, didn't test dBase II, for example). It seems that these programs mark the strings that are to be displayed in reverse video by setting the high bit of the characters, and, being born in the seventies-eighties, do not care if a character goes to display with hi bit set or cleared.

And too much fumbling with screen colors in the configuration screen causes the program to hang.

But the possibility to select the screen color is a Good Thing (I didn't try it earlier).

Best,
olev

Hi,
I did manage fix but would like to test it against CP/M software.
I'm trying to transfert file from my Linux machine to CP/M. CP/M side use Download.com but what to use from linux side?
Any suggestion would be Welcome.
Cheers,
Dominique

There's an only file packer here. https://rc2014.co.uk/filepackage/

Just send the result as a text file into minicom or similar. When you're at the cpm prompt.

How that helps,
Justin

Hi Dominique,

As Justin says, there is a file packager on the RC2014 website here; https://rc2014.co.uk/filepackage/

To use it, upload the file you want to send to your RC2014.  This will produce a text file that you copy and paste in to your terminal software.  Before pasting, though, navigate to the drive on your RC2014 that you would like the file transferred to.

Note that if you're sending a large file, setting a character delay of 1 or 2ms will allow the RC2014 to keep up.

Hope this helps, but let us know if you have any other questions

Spencer

Thank for the package manager. It works!

Could someone help me to locate a Wordstar version running with RC2014 ?
I did find 2 of them but cannot making them displaying the menu on putty or Minicom or Picoterm.
Cheers,
Dominique

Hi.

It would appear that the NupetSCII character set introduced in 1.4 is causing issues with inverse text. I have my RC2014's second SIO port connected to a serial connection on my desktop machine. Any linux cli applications that use inverse text (black text on white background), such as the column headers in top, are now a collection PetSCII graphics. In 1.3 they displayed perfectly.

Cheers,
S.

Fixed now!

Version 1.4 is SuperSede with version 1.4.1 fixing the NupetScii behavior by allowing switching between VT100 ASCII (default) and NupetScii in the configuration screen.
VT100 Ascii is the default font.

Have been tested with WordStar under CP/M

Cheers,
Dominique
