This all started with a "dibs!" comment, and here I am. I think the Bomba is going to enjoy our Canadian west coast forests!

Many thanks to Joe for being a pleasure to deal with and for going through the extra trouble of getting it across that imaginary line. And most of all for being silly enough to sell it.

This was after I was silly enough to buy it! 😂

Wow Jason,

You’re developing quite a collection.  Great looking bike and build.

I briefly had one, but it was just a little too big for me. But it was a lovely riding bike.

Jason,

Beautiful build! If you don't mind me asking, what's the bag you have on there?

Andrew

I have Sky's old one and like it a lot, though I feel it is too small for me*. Nevertheless, it rides sweetly. Mine is green, and my wife has one too in coveted orange. Maybe all Bombas end up here?

* the Riv geo chart says it fits. It's OK but only with the bars and seat jacked way up. If I had a do-over, I'd go up at least one size above current 60

What size is this?

I think the Bombadil is right up there with the Hunqapillar as my favorite Riv bikes.  The Bombadil might even have a slight edge, even though I have a Hunqapillar!

Cheers Sky, guess it's not the first one in great Vancouver then!  Maybe we'll have to cross paths for them to meet, Eric--would be kind of crazy to have three Bombadils in one place in Vancouver, at least to me!

Andrew - it is a Swift Bandito and I certainly recommend it.  There are a few makers doing virtually the same thing, but the construction is great on the Swift one for sure. It fits quite a lot but I am a pack rat, so I'm tempted to run dual Banditos with one on the handlebar also.

Chris L - I think I prefer the diagonal "surplus tube" over the parallel top tubes if I'm being honest, though I love both. For me, the benefit of the Bombadil resides partially in it being 650B which was my preference for this particular bike, and I'm more in between sizes on the Hunq, so this worked out great.

I realized as I posted this that the Hunq a) doesn't have the diagonal tube in my sizes and b) was available in 650B in alternating sizes that I could have fit.  So those kinda cancel out in my previous comments.  This is a 52cm frame :)

Congratulations on the new ride.  You have a nice compliment of Rivs.

Cheers Roberta & Leah; this doesn't bode well for my chances of jumping on the Charlie wagon in the new year but I'm quite pleased with the current spread!

Here's a better photo, in that it's both much larger and also in a more appropriate setting. I received COUNTLESS funny looks today because I can assure you that our local MTB trails, which are quite literally known worldwide for being the most technically challenging, do not often get ridden on anything less than a 6" travel full suspension bike. But heck, I rode from the city to two different mountains and up to the snowline, which is unfathomable on their modern MTB's.

Jason, it looks great.  And it is a Bombadil not anything else.  Great looking.
