I know - I could just buy a  rubber foot for the Greenfield kickstand. but I already had the cork.
If it falls off - it's a adhesive free press fit - I'll get the rubber one. Don't call me cheap - call me a repurposer.

Love it!! The rubber foot on mine is beginning to wear thru and this has got me thinking...

Love the repurposing. Use a zip tie or two around the upper part to further keep it secure and it should be good.

Thanks,

Reggie

Do you have some cork grips on the bike to match?

Thanks,

Reggie

I love repurposing. I am currently trying to make a Boa cinch from an crashed helmet work as a saddle bag attachment. Took a novelty little duffle bag and had my local cobbler attach some strapping with loops in order to make it a handlebar bag. Used some coroplast from salvaged political signage to provide shape and some durable foam sheet from some bicycle packaging as an additional liner. Unit is attached to my 1987 Schwinn Voyageur. Has worked very well.

Thanks,

Reginald Alexis

The bike sports Ergon 'Biokork' GC-1 grips, so sorta like cork. The bar end plugs though are genuine Spanish cork stained Rioja red.

So far the kickstand foot is holding tight. I drilled an undersized hole into it and tapped it into place.

Reginald - I'd love to see a pic of that bag!!!  (and the Schwinn as well).   I had a hunch other Riv riders might be into creative repurposing solutions.

Steve,

Here are some pics. For a novelty bag it has a lot of features that a lot of dedicated bicycle handlebar bags have. Main compartment, smaller zippered pocket, open end pockets and smaller opened pockets opposite the smaller zippered ones. I got it free someplace, I think left over from a garage sale or something. Had been kicking around my place until I came up with the thought to make it into a handlebar bag by attaching material to make loops to attach with straps. The strap loops were smaller than I was thinking it should be, but I was able to use some pedal toe clip straps through them to attach it to the bar. The initial inner foam liner was a sheet I cut to size that was salvaged from nicer bike packing from a Trek Madone or something. I added the coroplast cut to size about a year or so later to add better shape. Kept the other foam liner for cushioning and keep nose down from stuff rattling inside.

Rivendell content, I sold the Schwinn Voyager a number of years ago to fund the purchase of my Rivendell Mountain. I don't think it was bult at Paramount in Wisconsin, but may have been influenced in design by the shop up there. I use it as my road bike. More of an all road bike or whatever.

Thanks,

Reginald Alexis

Reginald, well done - the bag as well as the Schwinn. Hopefully it's still being ridden. It seems most older bikes  come to an ignominious end.
