I have this era of clem, with these wheels (multi colored nipples, etc) and i don't personally know the ERD of the (front) rim, which I need to add a dynamo hub to.

any chance someone does know it, having it done it themselves or having someone else?

while i'm here, i hate what i've used to stick the head tube badge on, and would like something thinner that allows the badge to properly wrap around the head tube. does anyone know the exact product rivendell uses, or perhaps something different or better?

If these are the same rims on the current completes (Alex DM24) then you can find the ERDs here: https://alexrims.com/products/dm24/
Can you measure the rim width? If the outer width is 32mm then it's a pretty good chance it is the DM24.

I can’t help with the ERD, but I’m dry curious what you used to stick the headbadge. I think the double stick tape typically used is about a sixteenth inch thick. If you go to the hardware store, ask for VHB outdoor doublestick tape. That’s “very high bond”, and shouldn’t bump out the badge too much, and won’t ever let it go without some serious elbow grease. If you’re in NYC, I’ll share some of my ample supply with you…

While the ERD is listed in the Alex link included(if a DM24) in this thread, I'd have to ask do you really want/need to dismantle a assumably perfectly good working wheel ? I mean, is space and resouces so limited that you can't build another wheel entirely ?

Myself I don't take published ERD for granted so I measure it myself using two spokes and a digital caliper. Essentially this way https://www.parktool.com/en-us/blog/repair-help/determining-spoke-length-for-wheel-building

There's no guarantee that every mfr measures ERD the same way, so measuring it yourself in a consistent way, with spokes installed as shown in the Park link, assures it will be consistently accurate. Also measure the hub.

Rims need not match, just as using a dynamo hub doesn't match whatever rear hub used.

Hi, yes to both.

Thanks for the wisom re ERD and manufacturers inconsistencies.

You don’t say what wheel size you have, but my first run Appa from 2016 came with the same multi color nipple wheels as the Clem and they were Alex DM24. I did the same thing you are planning and had the LBS replace the Riv front hub with a Kasai dynacoil, although I later rebuilt it myself when I upgraded the Appa wheels to Velocity Atlas rims, which seemed almost identical in ERD, at least in the 26” size I had

Dorothy - that is a good point. I was referring to the 650b wheels. the DM24 is not listed as coming in 27.5 / 650b, but maybe this was an OEM product?

The DM24 and DM18 were indeed both supplied to Riv for wheelbuilding by Rich in a 650b size, and used for OEM builds from Taiwan. Thanks to the waybackmachine .... https://web.archive.org/web/20210211204036/https://www.rivbike.com/collections/framesets/products/clem-l-complete-bike-summer-2020

I assume yours has no label and that's why you don't know ? If so post a angled up close photo of the profile and/or measure the outside width. Their shape and width are distinct.
