The landscape looks very like the RBW area and the “guides” look very much like Rivendell employees; is that Grant in the distance?

Inquiring minds want to know.

When thou didst not, savage, know thine own meaning,

But wouldst gabble like a thing most brutish,

I endowed thy purposes with words that made them known.

I should have read the comments before posting. First comment as of right now:

I'll keep it short. A month or more ago BSNYC told me he was visiting the area with his family, as part of his wife's HS reunion, and he was staying in Fairfax. My buddy Dan and I ride on Mt. Tam several times a year, so I proposed a ride, if he had the time. He squeezed it in his 2.5-day stay, while still fulfilling his family fun. I kind of forced the ride on him, he wasn't saying hey, take me riding. He rode my Clem and I rode another and Dan rode his own bike (a Gus). We rode the 13.5-mile PMTR loop (if you're familiar with the mountain, you know what PMTR stands for, and if you aren't, "Pine Mtn Truck Road" won't mean anything anyway). I was concernd about how NYC boy would do on these trails. The photos here show the smooth parts, but there are several 50-yard descents with unavoidable boulders, and things like "bicycle enthusiasm" don't help as much as fitness and skills, and your blogger has plenty of those, despite living in NYC. I sure wouldn't. Fun ride. The bikes weren't an impediment. Finally...he is really fun to ride with.

I would love to ride that loop someday. Having the context of what type of terrain the bikes were developed to ride would be interesting, even if it doesn't change where I ride mine.

Grant certainly underestimates the terrain around NYC. It's not all skyscrapers as busy asphalt, plenty of technical trails around too!

Love BSNYC. Happy to see him riding with the RBW crew!
