A couple weeks ago, I asked for advice on my tires/flats issue and tubeless. Well here is what I've done from all that information you lovely people provided. I decided not to go tubeless, the wheels were too expensive, and doing it without proper tubeless wheels seemed like too much of a faff. I swapped my tires to Rene Herse Rat Trap Pass, the standard casing version. And I bought a bottle of the Muc-off inner tube sealant. I haven't however, put it into my tubes. It arrived so much later than the tires, and I just haven't gotten around to it. I've had one flat on the tires so far, from our arch nemesis the goathead. The tires themselves though, I am very pleased with. They roll sublimely and seem to cause me less exertion. Maybe this is placebo effect, because I spent so much money on them! But placebo or not, I really do like them. And I just adore how they look. One niggle I have with them, is the fact that they don't actually measure up to the full 2.3 inches. They measure just under 2.1 when pumped up to 30psi. Which is actually on par to what Rene Herse say they will measure out to. I just don't get why they don't label them 2.1 inch. I can forgive this though, given the fact that both of these tires combined, weigh less than one of my Marathons! So after about 350 km, no sealant, and one puncture, I'm very pleased with them
On a side note, whilst I had my wheels off, I finally removed the plastic spoke protector. That saved me 36 grams, and Clementine the indignity of that thing! But now I swear my hub sounds louder when coasting. Maybe the disc was projecting the sound away from me. Oh well 🤷🏼‍♀️

Sharp looking bike.  I run RH Snoqualmie Pass tires on my Hillborne and use the widest Mr. Tuffy's available for 700c tires.  That stops a lot of goatheads, though the protection is primarily in the center of the tire, about 33mm wide protection area.  So occasionally one will get through outside the protection zone.   Thankfully here is SoCal, goatheads are a problem in the fall only.

That bike looks awesome! I have a 59 Clem H in Grilver. Love it. It's slowly starting to look like something from Mad Max. I am curious about the tire width though. Those rims look like the stock DM24s, which are a hair wider than the Cliffhangers I use. I mounted Antelope Hills on them and they measured 56mm (slightly wider than advertised). Mine are tubeless though. Maybe that has an impact on the width. Either way, glad you like 'em. Great tires. I hope some day you get the chance to try tubeless. I won't be going back to tubes on any of my larger tires.

Enjoy!
