Sorry to be the first and 'not' have Riv content to share.  My Roadini is sheltered in my basement away from the cold and snow.  Actually, she hasn't been out in 2026.

But the Fargo was up for duty this morning (and yesterday).  It was sunny, not much wind, around -8C.  I'm planning to shorten February so it doesn't feel as long as January (what was it Leah, 456 days or something ;-)

The 'trail' I show in one of the photos is fine for 5 minutes, but it's bumpy and not very pleasant, even with a bit of suspension thanks for the Redshift stem.  The other photo is at our fairgrounds and the gravel track around the outside was nicely plowed, and the skating rink was no match for the studded tires.

I feel like the first couple photos for the monthly photo post being non-Rivs is becoming tradition. I'll uphold this farce by sharing a photo of my Twenty from this evening's ride. In my defence, it's sporting an Albatross bar and Monarch pedals; distinctly Rivvy parts. Also, it is not lost on me how lucky I am to be riding in above-freezing temperatures!!

I did this ride today thinking it was January still.  It was a low 60s kind of day in the East Bay hills but I stopped for this photo op in front of the Chancellor's Mansion on the UC Berkeley Campus, on the Legolas

Trying to clear the head after weeks of bad air quality and bad news. The air was better today, but looking out towards SF, I couldn't help but think of Neil Young

Still, as Joe Pernice always likes to say: nothing bad about a bike.

Apologies for the nearby groundhog and his prognostications, but my February is looking unusually similar to last month.

I cannot recall the last time the temperature was above freezing, and have been accepting single-digit temperatures as normal. Only the below-zero starts have warranted a bit of extra preparation. My non-Riv commuter is a mess during this brutal cold, which negates my usual pump-up yard sprayer triage cleaning option.

The foot of snow has been reasonably removed from roadways,  but so many of those had that volume of snow moved into the curb parking and or bike lanes. Folks have been tolerant of me in the traffic lane, even with passing being very limited by the now frozen solid snow walls at the edges of plowing.
