I am happy for Riv.  Good they made out.  I tried to purchase one, and it seemed between 12:00 and 12:01 the mermaids sold out.  I was able to load a lime green, but when I added the build up up the frame, they were sold out.

Divine intervention telling me to go for the Apaloosa in late April.

Seems best to buy the frame then email to add the build if they will do it.

This is what is known as a good problem. Those Appaloosas are great (and beautiful) bikes, you're going to love it.

I got the 55cm Lime I wanted in the first two minutes of the sale.  A couple of things I did - logged in to my account ahead of the sale time, of course, but I added the prep for shipment item to my cart earlier that morning, and I had the credit card details stored in my browser’s autofill. I had the size and color already selected too.

Hi all:

Thanks to Roberta Chase who referred me to Analogue cycles.  I was able to procure a 50 cm Olive green and they will do the build for me. They seem really great to work with.

Dorothy,  That must have been a white knuckle few moments.  I'm so glad you got one.  I got the mermaid, but that lime/olive sure is nice looking, also.

Jay, I'm happy to have helped getting a Riv into another person's hands (under another person's bum)!

I've bought my first Riv from James when he was located in MD as Gravel and Grind, and I had just heard of the Rivendell brand.  For all my bike naivete, they have been patient answering my questions and never steered me wrong, helping me with a "lightening up" bike project last year, and recommending a build for my 55 Mermaid Platy.

Thanks Roberta
This frame is for my youngest who is 27, he finishes a Master’s this summer. I already have an Appaloosa, a grey Roadini that is stored in Wales with my sister for when I visit, a Cheviot, a Clem and an orange Roadini that I just finished building with Losco bars and a Bitex hub wheelset. My oldest kid got a Clem complete from me two years ago.

Jay, I can also vouch for the Analog folk. I worked with James on a build and he was great - really detailed, honest, good recommendations. Takes a different approach from typical Rivendell, but I trusted the team and came out with a really solid, well-fitting build.

I'm pretty sure that Kevin at Golden Pliers here in Portland is getting at least a couple Platy frames in. I recall him saying he was focusing more on larger sizes, but
I'm not sure. For anyone who missed out it would be worth contacting him to find out what he's got.

For any of my fellow Canadians, C&L Cycles is now carrying Rivendell, and have 55s and 60s in stock in both colours: https://www.clcycle.ca/en/cadre-rivendell-platypus-step-through-countrybike.html
