Nice! I love that color, and I'm so jealous I don't fit double-tubers. Welcome to Rivland!

Re-posting because I typo'd Rivendell....and I'm a little OCD lol.

After over 7 years of following Rivendell, and spending countless hours on this site, and any other that is even remotely related to Riv and Rivish biking culture, I finally found myself in a position last month to purchase my first true Riv (no offense meant to Marco the San Marcos).  One morning while drinking my coffee before work, I stumbled upon a new post of a Local Joe Appaloosa--in my size--in my favorite Joe color--and at a fair price! So, after a couple days of worrying about my wife killing me, I went ahead and made the plunge! AJ (short for Appaloosa Joe, which sounds to me like a GREAT cowboy name!) somehow manages to take smoothness of the San Marcos, and make it even smoother.  Standing next to each other you can see how much longer AJ is!

After the purchase I sadly had to Sell Marco.  He went on quiet a journey however and landed with another Group member all the way in Spokane Washington!  Shortly after the purchase I had to travel for a while so AJ and I are still getting aquainted, we have been on several 3-5 mile rides around the neighborhood with the family, but over the weekend I finally took him out to stretch his legs...or chainstays....or wheels maybe?  Anyway, it was a perfect evening, and a perfect ride.  I really enjoy how AJ makes me relax my pace and enjoy the scenery and the sensation of using one of mankinds greatest inventions.

I did ride about 5 miles of pretty rough gravel that really had me wanting to get some wider tires on there pronto, but it was worth it to sit by the lake for few minutes.

Finally as the sun crept through the trees we started heading back home. Hopefully I will have many more adventures to post on here in the coming months!

Joe,

I always seem to go back and forth on my love for Double tubers.  When I look at them in pictures it always seems odd, but when I look at them in real life, I always think it looks great! In the end, I'm a bigger guy, I ride bigger Rivs, and they come with Double Tubes!

Nick,

Congratulations on your first Riv.  My first (and only) Riv purchase was just over two years ago and also an Appaloosa, but in butterscotch, not the wonderful, watery blue of yours.  You're right about it allowing one to just enjoy the ride and the scenery.

I wish you many happy, relaxed miles.

Roberta

I have a 53 cm MIT Atlantis and feel the same way. It is the most comfortable bike I have ever owned.

You will love your Jo Ap. Roberta is, as we speak, on hers in the eastern part of the country riding it in a sea of lycra and carbon and doing us all proud. Hers is the mouth-watering butternut with burgandy accents - can you picture it?

Enjoy your new Rivendell and I’m sorry to tell you you’ll be ruined for all else after this. Happy summer!
