Hello! I am new to the group and thought I would share my Toyo AHH with everyone. I have done a couple camping trips with rear panniers, and the frame really didn't like the weight back there (the flex through the frame while at a good speed and pedaling was scary). I even towed my dog when he was a puppy! He weighs 45lbs now so I am going to spare the Homer of pulling him. I decided to take the rear rack off and enjoy it as a rando bike. I love how confident this bike feels at speed on either smooth tarmac or a bumpy gravel descent. There are fewer and fewer people with rim brakes on the gravel rides, but this A Homer Hilsen will do just fine for a long time to come.

Nitto Noodle, TRP Levers, Silver Long Reach Brakes, Phil Wood Hubs F/R, 2x7sp. Sugino XD Cranks, Brooks B17, Nitto S83, Ultegra Headset + BB, Nitto Mark's Rack, Acorn Bags (just in case people were curious)

Hey Garrett,
Great looking bike. The blue/cream combo is nothing short of elegant. Once saw an original Duesenberg with the same color scheme, Blue body with cream fenders, and if it's on a Duesenberg it's gotta be cool.  Now some advice from a grumpy old fart who's done a lotta touring. Your Homer can easily handle a camping load. There's nothing wrong with the frame or a rear load (though you should always balance front and rear, don't do rear only). It's the rack. The struts are too long, thin and not triangulated. No wonder the load was trying to do the driving. Get yourself a real touring rack and you're headed for the high country. And you don't have to go all out and get a Nitto Big Rack or Tubus Cosmo or somesuch. There are some perfectly good heavy duty racks for half the price. Salsa, Soma, Topeak, Tor Tec. There's a bunch that'll handle the job. I just don't want you to be discouraged over what you may view as a defect in the bike.
