Hey All,

I have been meaning to put up a post to add my picture to the #RivSisters posts of holding up their Platys and thought that I'd also include some pictures from our last ride! We just moved to San Luis Obispo from Santa Cruz at the beginning of July to start a business and have been trying to get in some rides from the shop. This was our most recent ride a couple days ago, and the first with Jared's newly assembled Hunqapillar. What a snazzy bike it is! I think that it and my Platypus look very unique together, and we both enjoy them so much, both aesthetically and in their capabilities!

I hope that you all get in some nice rides this weekend!

Ariel! Hi! I don’t see the photos, can you try one more time? I’m so looking forward to seeing your #PlatyPose.

Leah,

Thanks for the message!

I was waiting a week+ for this post (my first!) to clear but it seems to have gone through so now I can add photos!

You cool cat, you! These are great photos - and you are so right, the bikes look so unique together. I love this so much! And the new surroundings are gorgeous. I’m so jealous of that peaceful scenery and the fact that it must be cool enough to wear long sleeves and pants. It is triple digits here in Vegas and not going to let up anytime soon.

Thank you so much for the fun glimpse into your riding life. Your Platy looks great on you!

Leah says it best, but those are great photos. What a beautiful part of the world to live in and enjoy by bicycle.

Ariel, you've got a cool Platypus!  Thanks for sharing the bike photos and images of the ride in your new area.  I sure like the touches of orange and gold on your bike!

I guess the PlatyPose photo "throw down" has been issued, so I'll get busy with the camera.

#RivSisters,
Joyce

Ariel,

What is your new business here?

We have a good Riv community here, we'll be on the lookout for your Platypus and Hunquapillar.

Mitch in SLO.

Ariel, this #PlatyPosing should be documented under its own thread, don’t you think? Would you be ok with me starting a new thread and extending an invitation for Platypus owners to #PlatyPose on that thread? We could extend the invite to all Rivendell mixtes, since we’d have a longer lineup!

That is an awesome pair of bikes, what a feast for the eyes.  And I immediately noticed the extra clothing too, I can't imagine cool enough air to wear extra layers!  And I'm in Canada!

Leah,

I'm glad to hear that you got some joy from seeing our rivs together, it brings me joy to know that there are others out there who love them as much as we do! I am thankful to be a part of this group and be able to share in the Rivendell fanaticism. San Luis Obispo's weather is pretty ideal for riding, I have been bringing a vest and it is just perfect if it gets a bit windy (there are a lot of headwinds here but I am learning to lean into it, let my hair down, and let the wind blow all my stresses away on our rides).

Wishing you some cooler weather and breezes in the future!

Ian,
I'm glad you liked the photos! I'm sure there will be many more opportunities for great photos of our rides to come! We would love to visit Alberta with the bikes in our Sprinter van when travel is again permitted! Well wishes to you!

Joyce,
Thank you for the compliment on my Platy! Orange is my favorite color (I even have an orange car!) so when I was planning on how to setup my Riv I had to tastefully throw some in. Looking forward to seeing your PlatyPose photo! Always nice to see #Rivsisters on a post! Makes me feel so happy and included in such a cool and inspiring crew of ladies!

Mitch,
We moved to San Luis Obispo to start a camper vehicle conversion business. We wanted to help the average person to get out in a vehicle and explore nature! We built out a 2006 Sprinter Van last year and it was a challenging and rewarding experience and through doing that we actually saw a hole in the camper conversion market. All the outfits we looked up when doing research for this business venture were those who only work on new vehicles and who were charging around $100,000 for a vehicle, which revealed to us that there really was a need to have a more community based business to help people who need more flexibility (have a set budget or only require certain amenities for example). We even made provisions for both of our Rivendells to fit under the bed in our personal van, gotta have the babes safe inside while traveling! It is cool to see that there are other Riv fans here in SLO, we feel so lucky to be here, it is a gorgeous place to ride a Riv.

Jason,
They really are quite a quirky pair! Glad you enjoyed seeing them! Like I mentioned above, I think my layers were more to combat wind than temperature, but I am excited for all of us for some cooler autumn breezes! Fall is my favorite season and I crochet so I always look forward to layering up with handmade goods! Guess that is why I wound up in the beanie, it has been many months since I've been able to wear it comfortably, although it didn't last long on the ride! Sending more well wishes to you in Canada!

Good stuff Ariel! Both bikes are looking so good. Stoked to get out and ride with you two!
