Hey Drew -
Congrats on your new Riv. Exciting. After a year+ search I finally found my first Riv - a 62cm double TT Sam Hillborne. Photo attached. Love it. While not the lightest bike, it rides much smoother and faster than my Surly Crosscheck. Very happy with it. Still dialing in a few add ons, but it's close.
My wife has been hearing me talk to friends how much I like my new to me 2010 bike, she's now not so subtly throwing out hints "maybe I need a Rivendell":). Her current ride is a Surly Long Haul Trucker in the exact same blue as your double TT Sam. I want to say it's a 54. Normally big for her, but she's 5-8 with very long arms so a 52cm is a tad small. Probably a fist full of seat post showing on the Surly. I still have to measure her PBH, but my guess is quite similar to yours. Mind me asking what your height is? My guess is she's a candidate for the newer 54cm models but maybe the older 56cm is good too? I'm not afraid of the long TT as she'd most likely ride swept back bars. I'm not much a wrencher, but I'll have to look at the parts bin set up she's currently pedaling. Wondering if any of it would roll over to a used Riv (especially the wheel set).
We're not in the market for a "new bike". She doesn't ride much and uses the Surly primarily as her camping bike. Hopes are if I can find a beausaged but smooth riding Riv in her size, she'd be motivated to do more rides. Mostly pavement and a few fire roads.
Happy holidays. Hit me back when you get a chance.
Cheers,
Brody in LA.
