New to the list, and very grateful to have found my way to the BOB/Riv/unracer subculture. Short tours and commutes and rides for errands have been how I've biked since I was a kid, and it was welcome to see this all expressed as a coherent ideology..

I've had my 2008 Jamis Aurora (cromoly steel) touring bike since that year, and am now looking for a new (to me) bike.

If anyone is looking to sell a BOBish bike, in New York City or the region, please let me know. I'm not looking for the perfect RB-1 at this point in my life. Missed the bike boom by a few years, and am looking for a venerable steel frame from the 70s-90s. Projects welcome.

Saw this listing on local CL. Thoughts?

Looks nice, maybe a bit expensive (a little too new), doesn't take big tires if that's what you're in to. The Brooklyn Bike Jumble's coming up in a few weeks, you could find something there if not here. Or Jamison B., he's selling off stock for rockin' prices...

Like Kai says: the Jumble is worth a look. On the other hand - that's not a terrible deal for a canti 700c all-roadish bike that appears to fit 35's. Also considering that it's a Riv and may likely have that silky-magic Riv feel. Anyone know max tire size on a Rom? If it fits 38's then I might not hesitate.

That’s a great bike! If I was in the market, I’d not hesitate. It is more versatile and rides better than 90% of bikes on the market, and costs less than most decent bikes would.

The Romulus takes 38s without fenders and jack browns with fenders. It is a great bike.

Hi, Connor.

You probably saw this, but if not:  https://newyork.craigslist.org/brk/bik/d/brooklyn-rivendell-quickbeam/6966259547.html .  I do see Rivs pop up sometimes in NY, not often, but they do.  They pop up more on Washington, DC's CL.

Rivendell will be at the Philadelphia Bike Expo Nov 2 and 3, an easy bus or train ride from NY.

Roberta, Philadelphia
