I just realized that the stop-gap levers I spent all of $12 on while waiting for "real" levers to come off backorder are still on the Platypus. I hadn't bothered ordering replacements because they work so well I'd forgotten about them!

Are these in fact compatible with both V-brakes (long-pull) and cantilevers (short-pull) as it indicates in the description on the Amazon site?  That is usually not the case, but on rare occasions I have seen dual compatibility built into the lever.  I'm alway suspect of the descriptions given on Amazon for bike parts.  I see from your other post that you are running V-brakes on your Platypus.  I suspect these are long-pull levers.  Just to clarify for the uninitiated.

Philip:

If they work so well that you'd forgotten about them, call it success.

Tektro makes a lever with a clever piece where you hook up the cable.  It allows 2 locations.  The long pull works with V-brakes & the short pull with others.  During my bout of brake-itis, I learned that the pivot to cable stop dimensions are about 1" for short pull & 1-1/4" for long pull.

The Shimano brake levers for my 8 speed Shimano IGHs also incorporate the two position cable pulls. The left is just a brake lever, the right incorporates the IGH shifter and quadrant. Got them from Peter White.

As you say, I have these running V-brakes & I'm not sure how they would work as a short pull. I actually replaced some short pull levers that I liked the look of (Tektro FL750) & was sure I could make work with some fiddling. Which I couldn't!
