Hello!

After 13 years with my Ram and deluding myself to keep it despite the extreme French fit (my saddle height is 74cm as pictured; my PBH is 85 or 86cm), I am going to find it a new home. Piaw and Houston inspired me with their orange Roadinis and now I have one incoming from the Facebook Riv group. Since n+0 is the name of the game and I have a road oriented Riv en route, I'm afraid this must go.

The build is a bit unorthodox for Riv with a lot more European parts (Campy Record 10-speed gruppo with brifters! and a Mavic Krysium wheelset) than Japanese (though there's still a Nitto B115 bar, Pearl stem, and Nitto seatpost.) There's also a well-worn Brooks Swift. The Rene Herse Bon Jon Pass tires have no more than 100 miles on them (and are the fattest tire this model can clear.)

This bike has some patina, scratches, chain suck, and a very faint indentation in the headtube near where the brake cables route. If you're looking for a rider with some beausage, this is a good candidate.

The one thing that had recently troubled me was what might be termed "Mavic howl" out on a ride. I'm a terrible mechanic and even a real bike mechanic wasn't able to replicate the problem when test riding the bike so the freehub may need some work. With all the nice parts included, even if this wheelset needs replacement, I think my price is fair, but correct me if I'm wrong.

Please note that this era of Riv, the sizing was center to top, not center to center, so while it's on the big side for me, it's not AS BIG as it may sound compared to how huge a present-day 60 Riv is. Riv envisioned this size for a 87-89pbh/77-79 saddle height.

I'm hoping that with this low asking price I can have a quick local sale here in Southern California. I'm based in Glendale. I just want this to go to a good (slightly leggier!) home and I'd rather not ship.

It's a really special bike and a relic of the Toyo days, but I really need a 58, not a 60.

Thanks,

Brian Cunningham
Glendale, CA.

One note: I do need to keep the pedals for the incoming Roadini, so sale includes everything but the pedals/

I'm 5' 10" with a PBH of 86 and Will/Grant sized me down to a 54cm Roadini. It was a good choice!

Thanks, Piaw! Yeah I’m an oddly built 6-footer. I’m smack in the middle of the recommended range of PBH/saddle height for a 54 Roadini. Often I’m in-between sizes.

Hello!

I can see the Rambouillet doesn't possess the allure of the rarer, coveted Hunqapillar! However, I know there's enough aficionados of this bike that I should be able to unload the complete bike if the price is right. Maybe $1250 was a bit much after all.

If nobody local is interested in the complete bike, I intend to bring it to a local shop in Pasadena to consign. They take a substantial percentage but do all the work. I'm guessing that they'd price it in such a way that I'd net about $1000, so in the spirit of trying to pass on what I think to be a bargain to a group that has brought me friendship, knowledge and good deals, is there anyone in SoCal who's interested in this bike for an even $1k? My desire to maintain n+0 in light of the incoming Roadini outweighs my desire to hold out for an imagined price I think I deserve.

Let me know ASAP if this sweetens the deal for anyone!

Thanks,

Brian

Brian,
I don't know about everyone else but for me, the picture won't load.  Maybe upload an imgur link with a few pics to spark some interest.  Or maybe the picture loads for everyone else and that's not necessary.

With curiosity about what it looks like,
Jamo

Appreciate the heads up, James,

In case anyone else has this issue, I will upload the photos individually rather than in one zip file.
