Sam Hillborne build video

Thanks to a tip from forum members Liz S. and Paul R. I purchased my first Rivendell earlier this summer. It was a complete Sam Hillborne that I totally overhauled.

I made a video of the build process, it's up here.

And here are a few pictures of the completed bike. Thanks for having a look ✌️🙂

Great video. Great color choice on the repaint (yay black and cream). Glad the old BB finally was able to be extracted. Love the RH Snoqualmie Pass tires. I run them on both my Sam Hillborne and Surly Disc Trucker.

David: Seems we have some overlap in our parts, tires and frame appreciation! Rob Gassie (frame painter) was able to set that BB free.

Eric,

Congratulations on your beautiful Sam. Enjoyed your video and the views of your shop as well.

A tip that (I believe courtesy of Sheldon Brown) makes removing a bottom bracket much easier: if the bb spindle allows, run a wheel skewer through the spindle and your bb tool, clamp the tool down tight and with your big 'ol wrench turn that bb loose.

Thanks, Rich, great idea! Rob, who painted the frame, gave me a tool that performs the same function when he returned the bike. Wish I'd know about the skewer trick before.

Lovely bicycle-- you could do just about any sort of ride with that set-up excluding technical single track!
