Received my first ever Rivendell last weekend, very exciting! I imported the frame direct to Rivendell from Blue Lug with no problems ($77 import duty).

Since this is my first Riv. I went with a fairly standard build, as recommended by Will. Even though it's cold in St. Paul, MN I couldn't resist riding several times over the weekend. Here's a shot of the bike on the shore of the frozen Mississippi River in Fort Snelling State Park. Air temperature = -10F.

It rides like a dream and I've never experienced anything like it! Maybe it's just because it's the first high end bike I've owned or maybe there'e some mystical quality to the bike. I suspect the latter!

Here's the build list:

Sam Hillborne - 57cm Periwinkle frame (from Blue Lug)

Silver thumb Shifters

Nitto Albatross handlebars

Nitto Tallux 10cm stem
SKS Bluemels Fenders

Velocity wheels

Shimano Altus M310 derailer

Shimano DXR MX70 brakes

Panaracer Gravel King SK knobby tires, 700cx43

Nitto Big Back Rack

Carradice pannier

MKS Grip Monarch pedals

Crane Spring Bell

Nitto S65 Seat Post

Brooks B17s saddle

Stubby Skeleton Key front derailer

Paul Love brake levers, polished silver

Thanks,

Tim

I do like that periwinkle color and wintry Minnesota makes a nice backdrop. I doubt you can go wrong with a Will-curated Rivendell build either. Glad you are enjoying the new bike and I know it will give you years of pleasure

Looks great, Tim! I am a fellow Midwestern Riv rider, an Appaloosa, and feel the same way when I ride it. Many years of great riding ahead, enjoy the new bike.

Beautifully done, enjoy it. Of all of the Rivendells I have owned I have my 2 favorites now, the Hillborne and the Saluki. The Hillborne with 48mm tires is like riding a cloud.

Great looking bike! I really dig that Periwinkle Blue, I had to resist so hard when they came up at Riv.
