Hi bunchers!

Anyone here have any experience with running a Kids Ride Shotgun-style kids seat on the Clem L?

I can't think of any reason as to why it won't work, but I'm curious if any here have any experiences one way or the other. Tbh my biggest worry is that its a little silly to add a top tube to a step-through. I also really love having the step through, so I don't dig it either, but I'm sure my kid will love riding like that so I'll swallow that pill.

Thanks

Feliks, Oslo

@Feliks,

There is a Clem "L" bicycle owner in San Francisco that has two young children riding shotgun on his bicycle. I don't know his name. However, I do have a picture of him in my photos to share with you. I will get back to you later today.

Maybe another RBWOB group member can remember his name and that picture.

Hei Feliks!

I also really wanted to be able to use a Shotgun seat on my Clem, but I just couldn't figure out a good way to make it work. The one I have is frame mounted, so it's possible that a stem/seatpost mounted version could work (both Shotgun & Macride make these), but that was a non-starter for me since I don't think I could even straddle my 64cm if it had an actual top tube...

So my solution has been to keep my old MTB running with the Shotgun permanently mounted and ready - it's still by far the most fun way to ride with kids between the ages of 2 & 4, even if you don't get to be on a Riv!

I use a Mac ride for my Susie, it attaches to the quill and seatpost and not the actual frame. It works great! I even sometimes put a Thule seat on my rear rack and take both my kids on the bike. I attached a photo, hope that helps!

Thanks everybody for your helpful replies, it is indeed the kind that straddles between the seatpost and stem that I'm thinking about. But it seems I must make a measurement to see if it will even clear my 64 Clem.

Bryan - Your Susie looks like its at the bigger end of the size spectrum - how is your experience with the length of the tube?

Thanks again all.

My Susie is a 56cm but I’ve also done it on my wife’s 50cm platypus. When I ride hers with the seat I bow my legs out a little. If your child is less than 33 lb you can do the Thule yepp nexxt mini 2, I use that one for my 6th month old and it’s great. Attached to quill and the seat easily comes on and off.

Hey Feliks

I can't help with the kids seat on the Clem. But I wanted to say that I really dig what you are doing. Tuning in for your rides and thoughts is a welcome break from the madness in the world. I hope you keep going with it!
