I am luck to own several rivs, and then various family members have them as well.

Looking back, I realize a frequent means of bike-fleet expansion is that I change parts on one bike, and then I have an extra part - handlebar, wheelset, crankset, whatever. And then I end up adding a frame to sop up these extra parts. Taken to it's logical end, I suppose at some point I could do a build based around some extra bar tape, although this hasn't happened yet.

So in this way, I sort of backdoor my way into another bike.

Am I alone in this process?

Oh I think this is a widespread affliction around here, Jim. For instance I just got my custom this summer, then pulled the Losco bars for the last Bosco Bullmoose Riv had in stock. Well now I have this Losco cockpit with no bike attached..hey, there's a Bombadil on Craigslist. Solved! 🤣

I just built a bike basically from a spare pair of tires and a cassette, so no, you're not alone.
