in the (forlorn) hope of a 25.4mm-bar-clamp rivendell lugged stem

Hi, all.

As I think is general consensus, the primary rationale behind a lugged stem is its appearance. To me, beauty. When I finally got around to building a bar around one, I was slightly disappointed to see that the needed shim was basically impossible to fully hide. Which does mar the overall aesthetic.

Am I alone in my (admittedly trivial-to-mild) disappointment?

I may attempt surgery to adjust the shim's contours so that it can be hidden. Haven't decided yet. Even with the shim peeking out, looking at those luscious lugs is still a pleasant thing. And I'm not actually a surgeon.

Obviously 'twould be better in general if the stem had 25.4mm bar clamp. There may even be some teeny tiny practical benefit in the end.

I'll venture that Nitto (or anybody) making such a thing is extremely unlikely. I strongly suspect that making such a stem is not a mere tweak from making the one they make now. Superficially, if it were easy and/or cheap to do wouldn't they have done it by now?

Yours,
