I've been swapping parts back and forth on my Sam H. and Appaloosa for the past year never having enough parts to have 2 full bikes built. But I've recently moved back east to help my aging folks out during these precarious times, and I'd like to leave the Appaloosa how it is with my current parts for my dad to ride once it becomes safe again. So I'm left with a the Sam sans wheels, crankset, cassette, derailleurs. I'f it weren't such lean times I'd have much more confidence buying exactly what I want but at the moment I can't spend $220+ on a crankset alone, I'd rather find something used on ebay and get the whole drive train fro around $220. Sound crazy? If anyone thinks not please send suggestion this way. I'm happy to expose my ignorance on the subject

I'm interested in a double crank, something like 44/30 and hopefully 10 speed cassette

I've been recommended this wheelset by a friend who knows way more than I do, I don't know much about them but they seem solid.

Thanks for looking

The FSA Tempo Supercompact square taper crank comes with 46-30 chainrings and is pretty cheap: https://www.starbike.com/en/fsa-tempo-supercompact-v18-crankset-road-aluminium-n-11-jis-black/. €58 is about $US64. Like the Model-T though - any colour so long as it's black.

Try these codes on the pacenti items, wheels and quick relese. It worked for me not long ago.

AM25 = 25% of general goods
AMW100 = $100 off aluminum wheels

Maybe put out a wtb post here on Ibob. Ive always found that people have parts they are willing let go of, provided someone comes asking.

Indeed, I have a 10-speed cassette with very low use I'll sell cheap. I think it's 11-36 but I'll have to dig it out and look. If the OP provides a list of stuff I make have a package I can cobble together.

I have a barely used Rivendell/velocity atlas 700c wheelset, XD2 triple with 175 cm arms, and 10 speed ultegra medium cage rear derailleur. Please contact me directly if you are interested.

Where is the OP located? One of the best way to save on a wheelset is to find it local.

Hi everybody! thanks a ton for responding. I have a couple options on wheels at the moment via offers from the group and those codes sure do make the Pacenti option more affordable. One thing about the Pacenti wheelset that still stands out is that it's tubeless ready, which I'm gonna need if work takes me to AZ after things have calmed down with the world.

I've never been on ibob before but I've seen it talked about here quite a few times

I'm located in WV at the moment. Unfortunately the last time I took my bike to the only local shop for many hollers, my Rivendell was nearly laughed at in the very MTB specific shop. So local is very unlikely. Only trail we have here is a stretch of unfinished rail to trail, with about 12 miles of paved lane and still everybody buys full suspension mountain bikes with big knobby tires to ride it. I haven't lived here in 4 years and it turns out the "unfinished, horrible" trail everyone had been telling me about is actually just prime gravel and dirt rising for about 30 miles until a long neglected wooden trestle ends the path
