New Sam Up and Running

While it's certainly no Mermaid Platy, I'm really happy to have my new gold Sam all put together and ready to ride. I'm still recovering from a broken hand and am not yet cleared to ride, but I snuck in a short jaunt to take some photos. I had to test it all out to make certain its safe, after all.

Anyway, this metallic orange / gold is gorgeous and I'm really excited about this build. It rounds out my current selection of bikes perfectly and gives me a more pavement-specific bike.

Yeah. That thing. :). I called headquarters yesterday and they set me up with a wider bottom bracket and a Deore shifter. When I got it home and compared it to the XT I already had sitting there, they were nearly identical. I popped on the 113 BB and shimmed up the XT. Damn thing shifts beautifully, of course. You were right! I still want to find a more elegant-looking derailer, but this is functionally perfect.

Eh, at least it's silver, mine was a big black blob sitting over a silver crank..I think yours looks fine. That's a beautiful bike!

Very nice. What brakes are those? I found one from the previous production, new, a few months before these arrived. Great bikes.

Paul Components Touring Cantilevers. I haven't run cantis in a very long time and wanted to try some out for this build. I only did a very, very short ride around the neighborhood on them yesterday because of my injury, but I think I got them dialed in pretty well.

Very nice. My issue is finding an easy release canti but I have been able to get my shimano’s to release better.
