Possibly, but not recommended.

Seriously ,
I did get 31 miles today in beautiful sunny mid sixties temps.

Perhaps a Riv Roadeo would be better at this?

I've never herded cattle on a bike, but while working as a night watchman while in college at the former 20th Century Fox Ranch near Malibu in the early '70s (now Malibu State Park), I did herd them in a 1964 Dodge Polara at 2 am, driving over hillsides to keep the local herd away from the vegetable scenery on the Swiss Fambly Robinson set. I did occasionally have to get out and run them out of the creek beds on foot, which was no fun.

(8 miles of dirt road and rough track, MASH and Tora Tora Tora! sets. Clueless friend once drove into MASH filming and got yelled at. At the official 12 mph each patrol was to have taken 40 minutes, but I got it down to 17 minutes, hitting 70 on the wider straights and driving sideways around corners at 1 or 2 or 3 in the morning. The patrol cars, junkers from the TCF impound, would generally last ~3 months before we beat them into the ground and they had to be replaced. Good times.)

A bit of searching on net reveals the golden stature is this:

Spirit of Communication is the formal name for a statue originally called Genius of Telegraphy. The statue has been the symbol of AT&T (and also the former Western Electric) since their commission was completed in 1916. It is also known informally as the Golden Boy statue and formerly as Genius of Electricity.

Wow Patrick!

That sounds like some interesting times at university!

About 5 years back I got interested in the Mash TV show and finally watched all the episodes.

I used all the time I saved on patrol to good purpose, junior year, swatting up on Hooke and Boyle and Lavoisier and the other early chemists and theoreticians of atomic theory, not to mention Descarte's Algebra. Aced math and science that year, though I got little sleep on weekends, though I occasionally managed a kip in Hawkeye's tent.

I had guesstimated around 40 longhorns but just found this online.

It is an impressive display and I have been by there probably more than 20 times but never realized it's billed as largest according to the verbiage below.

Dallas does have some remarkable art and architecture in the area.

"The 49 bronze steers and 3 trail riders sculptures were created by artist Robert Summers of Glen Rose, Texas. Each steer is larger-than-life at six feet high; all together the sculpture is the largest bronze monument of its kind in the world.[2] Set along an artificial ridge and past a man-made limestone cliff, native landscaping with a flowing stream and waterfall help create the dramatic effect."

Three more from today's snaps...

Some great detail on these.

Philip  ,

I'm old enough to recall when your building there on Lamar was a huge Sears Roebuck store and I actually shopped there as a young man.

I need to look up when it closed.

Also I went through the huge warehouse behind it a half dozen or so times on work related business.

I occasionally cycle past
there  on my way from the far north Dallas area to the historic Santa Fe Train Trestle Bridge
past that crosses the Trinity and the bike paths along the Trinity River.

Unfortunately they're pulled down almost all the remaining trestles! I caught these right before they went under the bulldozer.

I couldn't place the Gold guy even though it's around the corner from where I used to work.
Then I realized that he was put in since the last time I was down there; I'll have to go check that out!
I am also trying to place those trestles; where were those located I'm sure I've seen them I just can't think of where that is!

Patrick (and others)

Regarding Malibu State Park and the old movie sets (MASH series was filmed there as well), it's recently been the source of a much darker story.
