Anyone have experience with adding adjusters to the silver shifter thumb mounts? Seems to me I might be able to find some adjuster that might nestle into the mount's cable ingress.

I wonder if there are non-obvious gotchas that I'll discover in the middle of my next long ride. Which, with my luck, will somehow end in the destruction of a handlebar, a stem, and a rear derailer. A precious rapid rise model, no doubt. I just hope the frame remains unharmed.

They're not needed though, as barrel adjusters are for indexing. With friction your cable tension is set once you start with a new cable. If there's any slack after a ride ore two you simply take it up by hand and re-tighten. A barrel adjuster can't do that for you. Even with indexing, those adjusters can't fix a slack set cable.

Blue Lug carries the mounts with adjusters: https://global.bluelug.com/rivendell-s-2-thumb-shifter.html
Sold as a package and probably expensive to ship, but I have them and like them.

Thomas, as others have pointed out Blue Lug has the Silver 2 shifters with barrel adjusters. I have them on my Gus & even with shipping (2yrs. ago) they cost less than the ones from Riv. But they lack the cable exit adjustment of the Riv units. If Garth is correct (?) I would prefer to have the Riv units. I got these because my rapid rise unit has no adjuster & I thought I needed one. But I am full friction so..?

Here's one of Tom Norman's Merlin. Lots of brass! Photo by Ronnie, more here: https://ronsbikesblog.com/2024/09/24/dirt-sloths-merlin/

I certainly note along with you that additional difference between the Silver mounts and the BL mounts involved. I like and use the exit-angle adjustment. And it allows nicely for a stem-mount, though there are and probably always will be cheaper/better ways of achieving that with less compromise. Blue Lug provides a nice one.
