Does anyone know if it’s currently possible to ride as far as the village of Big Sur? Or to Nepenthe?

Thanks!

My understanding and Caltrans website says closure is south of Nepenthe.

"Is closed from Limekiln State Park to 14.3 mi south of Big Sur /at Lime Creek/ (Monterey Co) - Due to emergency repairs - Motorists are advised to use an alternate route route"

Best up-to-date info is on the California Department of Transportaion site. That's the agency in charge of the road.

But" closed to car traffic" is not the same as" impassible to anarcho- adult children
who spent a fortune on fat tires"

Dan Remsen on the Bellingham Mayors Bike-Ped Advisory Board. advocated
for retrofitting as appropriate "Dead End" signs to read "Dead End for Cars"

Exactly. I’m hoping to ride to at least to the village sometime in June, and bikes can often go where cars can’t.
