As of this morning, there are only a precious few Clem H frames left:
45: 2 green franes
52: 3 green frames
59: 3 grilver frames

After these are gone, that’s it for the Clem H.

I know there are a lot of L frame lovers out there for various reasons, but you should not discount the H. Unbelievable value, awesome bike for the money!

Those are really hard to find on the site. It looks like there are only 5 dark green ones left, and it isn’t even noon. https://www.rivbike.com/products/clem-smith-jr-h-frameset

Right, and the 45s are on sale for  ***$700*** which is just crazy.  The 52s and 59s are $900 apiece, but still such a friggin' bargain, I can't believe they're still available.

$750 for the 45s, just so people don't get their receipt and think something went wrong. Which is still a crazy price for a great frame.

If you're in the market pay close attention to the current geometry page and ignore the height recs on the Clem pages, the 45cm has more toptube length than the first gens. I thought my 45 L might be a smidge small for me (5'-7") but it's perfect. Go buy one!

Oops - right Joe, $750 for the 45s. Thanks 🤥

Trying to talk my wife into one of the 52s ... Slap some Switchback Hills on there and it’d be like driving a Cadillac.

How tall is she? That 52 is a big bike.

The 52 would be perfect. She’s 5’-10” with a 88.7 PBH...long femurs. She rides a 58 Sam now, and has ridden my 59 Clem H, but it’s a hair too long.

Ah, yep, spot on. I just sold my 52 H to a guy same dimensions and it looked like it was built custom for him.

I'm curios about the 52 myself. I'm 5'6 and about a 29" inseam. Thinking of setting up with a Billie or Bosco to bring the reach back. 52 sound about right?

John C,

You're about my height, maybe a smidge shorter, so the 52 is a definite maybe. I need a bolt-upright style and my 52 H was too stretched out for me with the stock Boscos/12cm stem setup. Whether it would work for you depends a lot on how much forward lean you prefer.

I’m 5’5 with a 29” inseam, pbh 77.5  and am trying to dial in my 52.  I think I’ll get it there but would probably have gone with a 45 in hindsight.

I bought the third-to-last green 45 frameset on December 23, and am surprised the remaining two are still available!  It was not the value for me that it is for others, being Canadian, as I paid a terrible exchange rate and obscene shipping / duty - but I still feel like it's a good investment. It's been built into the most ideal commuter I could possibly imagine.

John_C - I highly, highly recommend going with the 45.  The 52 is massive, much larger than a 52 has any right being. I am 5'8.5" with s 30.5" inseam and I fit the 45 quite well.  It'll be perfect for you.  With a Billie / Bosco you'll want a longer stem but it'll overall fit MUCH better in my opinion

Thanks for the input everyone!

Last question about the Clem. Can I run 650b/27.5 on the 45cm? I already have a bunch of tires and 27.5 is kind of a sweet spot for me. I assume even with 27.5s, I’d have clearance for a 2.0 mob tire.

Nope. That's a 26-inch wheeler.

Not designed for it, but I for one (and others I know of) have run 650b on 26” frames with no real problems, other than higher bb/slightly reduced tire clearance. Even the cheapest Shimano b brakes have plenty of vertical adjustment to make such a thing happen. So, not “authorised” but likely possible to make that conversion (as opposed to the other direction, 700c to 650b, which is much more difficult with a canti frame).

Jason,
Very nice build.  What bb, bb width, and chainring do you have there?  Your seat post must be maxed out - is that the 300mm S65?

Sorry for the slow response, but thanks for the kind words Tom.  It's an FSA Comet crankset / BB with external bearings, which uses an annoyingly rare chainring interface - but I discovered through internet sleuthing that it is the same as a Cannondale spec, which Wolf Tooth makes a spider adapter for, so I have that plus a Wolf Tooth 38t ring to replace the stock 32t.  Not sure what the spindle length would work out to on this setup since it's all integrated.

Seatpost is the stock one, S65 sounds right?  It's about 20mm from being maxed out.  I don't love the look, but the ample standover is nice!  I prefer the look over a step-thru so I'll take the compromise.
