I'd like to get another couple of pairs in navy to supplement my long-lasting gray ones from Rick Risemberg. What makes and models do y'all prefer, and where do you get them?

#1: I want warm wool socks for cold weather that pull up over the kneecap; 31" pants inseam.

#2: If I can find lightweight knee/knicker socks in cotton in navy or any other moderate color in the blue/gray spectrum, I'd be interested in those too.

Thanks.

Patrick, check out Smart Wool ski socks. I found them at REI.

Thanks, Steve. A search at REI and other vendors shows only over-the-calf socks. Can you point me to a URL for over the knee models?

Thanks.

Patrick, the only over-the-knee garb I have experience with are Defeet Kneekers, which are not a true sock, but a legging spanning from ankle to mid thigh.  They're a great woolen garment, but I've found that for cycling they tend to migrate downward to just below my knees. I've not worn them with snug fitting knickers though, and I suspect that would help to anchor the top hem. And of course, the whole issue might simply be due to my spindly legs!

Thanks again, Steve. Those might work, tho' they're out of the Large size. They'd let you wear a warmer sock, like my Darn Toughs. I'll keep them on the list.
