Seeking advice on making a sling. (Not a sling shot.)

Not a sling shot; I've made plenty of those. A David-'n'-Goliath sling, of which I've made only 1, and that O! 50 years ago.

I know the general design and method, but I particularly seek advice on the length of the strings, the size of the (leather, of course) and the cradle or pouch, the best materials, and the best way to shape and attach the pouch.. 

For the record, if it helps advisors, I'm 5'10" in bare feet with Filipino torso and limbs, thus shorter limbs and longer torso than with men of the Nordic* race:

Behold, my child, the Nordic man,
And be as like him, as you can;

His hair is lank and made of tow.

*Apparently, an academically approved and very highly rated racial category circa 1900 when this little verse was published.
