Anyone bringing their Riv to Iowa for RAGBRAI this year??
Every year, I see a few and have met a few (Hello Julian), and would like to maybe meet over some "Church Lady" pie and a cold refreshment!

Not this year, but I hope to bring my Bleriot in 2024 or 2025. I hear great things. Have fun!

I’ve yet to do RAGBAI. It’s been on my list for years but there always seem to be a reason I can’t make it happen. Hopefully, once my son is older, I’ll be able to get there. I do ride BRAG every year, though. Have always had an interesting bike to ride for the week but next year will be the first time on a Riv.

I’ll be on my silver Sam, looking out for other Rivs.

Cody, I'll keep an eye out for a silver Sam!  My Sam is a double TT green, solid green head tube, wearing a red handlebar bag!

Ted, I am looking forward to riding BRAG...maybe next year.

Brady and Tirebiter,  You'll have a great time and I hope to call out when/if I see your Rivs!

Michael,  ...when you get Iowa in the future,  You and your Bleriot will enjoy this "rolling block party".  Hope you make it soon!

Cheers,

I found this thread tonight regarding RAGBRAI and figured using this one is better than starting a new one.  I'm considering signing up and training for 2025.  Hoping to work out the time off work to do the whole week.  Anyone have suggestions for charters they have used ?
It would be awesome to meet up with some Riv riders and iBobs.  I'll be on a Homer riding at "party pace".

Hi Jason

I did it several years ago and used Pork Belly. I paid for the tent rental and setup service (split with another person), which was awesome, and the shower trucks were REALLY nice to have at the end of the day. Would recommend and use them again.

Jason, I have used Pork Belly on 6 of my 8 RAGBRAI’s and heartily recommend them.  I also have heard very good things from users of Brancel, Alpaca Adventure, and Brancel charters.

Pork Belly has a very large camp.  Essentially its own self contained village!  Because of its size, it is sometimes a bit further from the overnight town entertainment, but they have nightly entertainment of their own in camp.  Shuttle routes to towns are available too..

Check out any charter that interests you and compare services.   All the established ones have similar services and prices.

I’m planning on riding in ’25 also and will probably use Pork Belly again.

I've done RAGBRAI twice, both times with Brancel Charter -- and was very happy with their services -- and yes, the charter-specific shower trucks are the bees knees!

Ted,
When you say BRAG do you mean Bike Ride Across Georgia?
I've been thinking I'll do it this year on next. I'm near Athens.

It seems that several of us who ride Rivs, also head to Iowa for RAGBRAI in July.   Maybe it is a good idea to start a new thread...questions and answers for those who might consider the ride on their Riv's, whether for the whole week, or maybe the half week option.  Or we can continue on this thread.  I'm happy to answer questions.

For example, YES you can arrange for Hotels (you've got to be on top of making reservations as soon as the route is announced), but you need to account for getting there and back each day...maybe as part of a team with driver, or your own personal SAG companion.

Julian,  I was fortunate to run into you at the final day tire dip on one of your RAGBRAI's.  I believe you had/have a beautiful Atlantis(?) and I had just ordered mine!

Just completed my RAGBRAI registration for 2025!  Now I'm training indoors until the weather gets a little warmer in Ohio.  I'll probably use Pork Belly charter based on the recommendations from several riders on this thread.
I'm looking forward to meeting other Riv riders (any riders really).  I'll be riding "party pace" and taking in all the views along the way.
